The Restoration Project

Follow the events to restore the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF in FY26-FY27

Last Updated: July 24, 2026

About The Project

The Las Vegas Public Radio brand continues to operate in degraded public broadcaster mode here in the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada). A restoration project is underway to restore the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF during FY26-FY27 for it's 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM which may or may not operate entirely like it was intended to be for the valley's second full independent noncommercial educational (NCE) public broadcasting radio station by 2025. This did not occur like it was supposed to be after being totally damaged based on partisan politics which severly impacted the non-partisan board operating the former public broadcaster on events leading up to and in 2025 when the former public broadcaster was forced to shutdown not because it wanted to. It was forced to shutdown due to viewpoint discrimination, differences of opinion, editorial techniques and censorship of a COVID-19 source being verified/traced to the origins of COVID-19 - the most credible COVID-19 source to date based on a series of events occuring before 2020 and into early 2020. These four (4) elements were used to take down and silence the public broadcaster's 1st Amendment speech and it's ability to continue to serve you, We, The People. They were the catalysts based on threats and intimidation made by various American government agencies to target the former public broadcaster and it's non-partisan staffers to keep them off-air/silenced at all costs and to ensure the organization could not execute it's business plans or report on it's subject matter within the marketplace going forward (also see Public Broadcasting: Background Information and Issues for Congress).

Salvaging the wreckage of the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF has begun...

A federal court case was filed on December 15, 2025 by the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF President & CEO on behalf of We, The People, it's listeners and former non-partisan staffers. The case is Gregory P LaPorta v. Corporation for Public Broadcasting, et al on Case No. CV-25-08266-PCT-SHD in the District of Arizona with a trial by jury request.

THIS PROJECT PAGE IS UPDATED REGULARLY TO SEE WHAT CAN WORK AND WHAT WON'T WORK IN THIS POST CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (CPB) NEW ERA.

Stage 1 Restoration Activities

Stage 1 restoration activities to return the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF back to We, The People:

Step:Action:Status:
1Add an official Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada) on June 5, 2025 for the former board members to work under ahead of the anticipated Rescissions Act of 2025, the potential closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and to adjust to this new era of Project 2025 by the new administration.Completed
2Former board members on May 25, 2026 to sign off on a Nevada Secretary of State Certificate of Reinstatement/Revival and Registered Agent Acceptance/Statement of Change so the charter would commence or be effective as of July 4, 2026 on the nation's 250th birthday (1776-2026) for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc.Completed
3Former board members to perform additional legal reviews outside of federal court because of Article III concerns under the U.S. Constitution raised by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona including on a matter of filing the Nevada Secretary of State Certificate of Reinstatement/Revival and Registered Agent Acceptance/Statement of Change documents during active proceedings which was brought to the court's attention. Federal court cannot provide legal advice. As of July 20, 2026, former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF station attorneys performing those legal reviews have not responded to the matters - it is unknown if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged at this time for resetting or rolling back the entire organization to June 9, 2022 and revive KIOF-LP 97.9 FM inlight of the events that occured within the public broadcasting industry including fatal technical issues with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) systems which seem to be ongoing.Completed
3.1Former board members to perform an additional legal review outside of federal court to form an entirely new clean Nevada non-profit organization for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. with the Nevada Secretary of State leaving behind the baggage of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) based on Public Broadcasting: Background Information and Issues for Congress should Congress take further action in FY26-FY27 to Reestablish and Fund the CPB Under Existing Authorities, Reestablish and Fund the CPB or Successor Organization with Changes, Fund Public Broadcasting Through Other Existing Authorities, Fund Public Broadcasting Activities Through Appropriations to Federal Agencies or Take No Further Action Regarding the CPB and Public Broadcasting.Completed
3.2Former board members to perform an additional legal review outside of federal court for just staying put in the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications and begin the migration of the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF public broadcaster entirely into a full commercial radio station. A new Nevada non-profit organization can be formed later on in FY26-FY27 to operate the Las Vegas Public Radio brand on a HD digital channel.Completed
3.3Former board members to perform an additional legal review outside of federal court for just staying put in the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications and expand the Las Vegas Public Radio brand into 12 countries with 58 places in the world named Las Vegas. This expansion would take the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF public broadcaster entirely into a new direction with the flexibility of a full commercial radio station using HD Radio. A new Nevada non-profit organization can be formed later on in FY26-FY27 to operate the Las Vegas Public Radio brand on a HD digital channel where the noncommercial educational (NCE) content could be rebroadcasted to those 12 countries and 58 places. This would sort of be like a Voice of America model running on it's own HD Channel broadcasting noncommercial educational content.Completed
4Former board members to file the Nevada Secretary of State Certificate of Reinstatement/Revival and Registered Agent Acceptance/Statement of Change documents with the Nevada Secretary of State for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. This reinstatement/revival would be a new community based board of directors.Pending A Decision Returned By We, The People
4.1Former board members to file the Nevada Secretary of State documents to form a new clean Nevada non-profit organization for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. This new clean Nevada non-profit organization would be a new community based board of directors.Pending A Decision Returned By We, The People
4.2The Las Vegas Public Radio brand was officially split (noncommercial/commercial) by June 2025 with the creation of the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada). This was done so usage of the brand can now combined with Internet of Things (IoT) devices on innovation designed to generate income and long term financial stability of a public broadcaster and the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. Sales proceeds of each Portsonic Radio device sold would then be donated back to the public charity. In Progress
4.3Former board members who pivoted to the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada) and later to Portsonic Communications (Arizona) are building and operating a separate new experimental low power FM commercial radio station (KVGK) in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This is being built off the traditional FM band (88.1 MHz-107.9 MHz) for initial testing purposes with the upcoming Portsonic Radio devices at Portsonic Communications (Arizona). In Progress
4.4Former board members who pivoted to the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada) and later to Portsonic Communications (Arizona) are building to operate a separate new full power commercial radio station. This will be used for the deployment of the Las Vegas Public Radio interactive radio service and game module on it's own HD digital channel with the upcoming Portsonic Radio devices. This is part of a spin-off of the original Las Vegas Public Radio branding that was once used exclusively with the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF noncommercial educational (NCE) radio station. In Progress
4.5The Portsonic Radio platform being developed is dynamic enough that other public broadcasters could hop onto it for long term financial stability. If the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF and the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could not be salvaged, the separate new full power commercial radio station with it's HD digital channels would become the only place you'll hear the Las Vegas Public Radio brand hosted with noncommercial educational (NCE) content back on the terrestrial FM ariwaves. This would be a digital only reboot of the former public broadcaster taking into consideration of the extensive damage already done to the public broadcasting industry over the past several years. In Progress
4.6A new clean Nevada non-profit organization for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. using a community based board of directors would then be created later on who would be responsible for operating the HD digital channel for the Las Vegas Public Radio brand in conjunction with the Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada). Think of it as a disconnected public broadcaster who's organization is no longer licensed by the Federal Communications Commission but still functions as a public broadcaster in a new public media marketplace being established. Other broadcasters who have been impacted from recent events are also looking at similar solutions to park brands on HD channels in this new public broadcasting media era of digital interconnects. Not Started
5Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada) to move the lvpr.org and lasvegaspublicradio.org domains back over to the restored or new organization for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. with it's exclusive usage if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. Not Started
5.1Las Vegas Public Radio division at Portsonic Communications (Nevada) to move the lvpr.org and lasvegaspublicradio.org domains back over to a new clean Nevada non-profit organization for Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. using a community based board of directors for it's exclusive usage if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could not be salvaged. Not Started
5.2Previous donations and contributions to the former Las Vegas Public Radio Inc./KIOF held in abeyance after it's January 20, 2025 closure could start to be re-processed at the public charity if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. Trial runs of new donations and contributions to the public charity could once again begin by the new community based board of directors. Not Started
6The restored or new organization Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. board of directors to vote in additional board members previously selected to help out from the noncommercial educational (NCE) broadcasting industry if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. Not Started
7Original Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. board members including it's founder and President/CEO leave the reinstated or new organization board of directors. This would occur after the newly added board members are sworn into the new community based charter along with getting up to speed as well as naming the new President/CEO if the 48,000 Watt FM upgraded station to KIOF 90.1 FM could be salvaged. Not Started
8Original Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. board members including it's founder and President/CEO begin promoting the Las Vegas Public Radio brand through the sale of Portsonic Radio devices and donating a percentage of each sale back to the restored or new organization for the Las Vegas Public Radio Inc. public charity. These proceeds will help maintain the operations of the new radio station because the public charity is starting over after 13 years of previous service of being an noncommercial/noncommercial educational (NCE) radio station in a public broadcasting industry now knocked back 50+ years in time after the events of 2025 and early 2026.Not Started
