LAS VEGAS (LVPR) — In times of emergency, Americans turn to their local radio like KIOF 97.9 FM / Las Vegas Public Radio and television stations first for the most trusted and reliable information to stay safe and informed.

Unlike other communications mediums, State of Nevada public broadcasters like KIOF 97.9 FM / Las Vegas Public Radio are on the front lines of a crisis, committed to staying on the air to provide critical information even when their own lives are in danger.

Today, despite facing the same economic challenges as other sectors including our own as defined by the Small Business Administration ("SBA") with their recent counts, State of Nevada public broadcasters like KIOF 97.9 FM / Las Vegas Public Radio are providing their communities with accurate and timely information on COVID-19 on every platform – on air, online and on social media. The Emergency Alert System ("EAS") is a reliable system used by all State of Nevada public broadcasters to transmit important information to you, our listener in these times of fluid changes.

Back on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 12:00 AM, KIOF 97.9 FM began airing Public Service Announcements approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC") and the National Association of Broadcaster's ("NAB") as more and more broadcast studio's are shutdown and inaccessible (other local public broadcaster's may no longer be accessible with their own studio's for "Live Shows" with the 10 people or less in a studio which we may see 2 people or less in a studio or no studios at all with quarantine orders enforced). As a matter of fact, some public broadcasters may actually need to become commercial broadcasters in certain markets just to survive with emergency waiver requests to certain rules. Anything could happen when states are being shutdown while massive economic disruption is occurring.

Contact KIOF 97.9 FM / Las Vegas Public Radio for other arrangements due to certain rules in place for "social distancing" right here in our own community and how we can get your show to "Live" air during this time of community suffering.
